On the 20th March, the Foundation held its 'bus wine tour' annual fundraiser. We could not have picked a better day - a fabulous, warm, sunny day into the Autumn Season for wine tasting, mountain views, fun and entertainment.

'Wine tasting' has a certain appeal to many people because of the various tastes in wine and quality of grapes. Many members and friends joined us for an exciting day touring the Yarra Valley wineries whilst laying back and simply enjoying the luxury fine wines.

We started the day with our first visit to Yering Station which held its monthly Farmer's Market - a great opportunity to buy fresh produce and stock up the pantry with gourmet treats. Following this, we visited Dominique Portet winery on our way to lunch at River Stone Estate which overlooked the magnificent mountain views - here, we gathered around the verandah, lazing around, enjoying a mouth watering lunch with fine wine and live music.

Our final visit to Rochford winery where we were given a mini introduction to wine tasting and appreciation. Many of us could not help, but have an gourmet ice cream to take on the bus with us - our final treat before concluding our tour.

Thank you to Sunbury Coaches for their donation of the Coach for the day and our bus driver Bob for his navigational skills and putting up 48 socially hydrated people. Also, thank you to all for supporting our fundraiser.

In addition, our organizing committee is looking at next years wine tour to feature the Rutherglen Wineries with overnight stay in Albury and a visit to historic Beechworth on Sunday. Details will be released at a later date.

After the Event

It was exciting to see many of our Sunbury businesses and community coming together to enjoy and support our ‘Sunbury Night of Nights’ fundraiser which raised this year $40,000. This is a fantastic achievement thanks to all our sponsors, contributors, and members who helped sell raffle tickets. -

Certainly, a great and sensational evening with everyone enjoying a night of ‘live bidding, music’, dancing, fine food and drink. Lucky Nigel Robertson who won $1,000 cash money in 1st Prize Caulfield Sweep, Nicole Hutcheon winning $600 2nd Prize, Mike Elliott $300 3rdPrize, and Fiona Tanner winning the final Prize of $100. Congratulations to you all and wishing you more abundance in the future.

In addition, we had a fantastic door prize go to Victor Scerri (Vic’Cucina) comprising of the ‘Promenade Package’ -complements of Crown Casino. This included an overnight stay at the Crown and dinner. Thank you to all our guests who purchased a raffle booklet for their chance to win this great prize.

Also, thank you to Margaret McLelland and Rupertswood Mansion putting on an exquisite dinner, and our guest Chef, Andy from Vue De Mont Restaurant who prepared a delicious dessert.
